Washington, DC – The Office of Cable Television, Film, Music, and Entertainment (OCTFME) recognizes EDGEWOOD RECREATION CENTER, as the November 2022 Location of the Month.
The recently renovated Edgewood Recreation Center located at 300 Evarts Street NE in Ward 5 is a versatile and dynamic part of the DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) inventory. Having recently undergone a $20 Million project redesign in 2018, replacing the old staple of the Edgewood community, originally built in 1947, the Edgewood Recreation Center presents a great location option for media production and still photography companies seeking to film scenes featuring sports and other recreational activities.
“The team at the Edgewood Recreation Center is extremely excited to be showcased as the OCTFME Location of the Month, proud to offer the facility as a media production location, and dedicated to providing the facility’s amenities, services, classes and programming to all District residents” said DC Department of Recreation Site Manager Willie Bennett.
The state-of-the-art facility is equipped with a new, indoor gymnasium, locker rooms and multi-purpose rooms, a new teaching kitchen and fitness center, as well as a rooftop farm and community garden. The location also features a new turf field with walking path, two fully equipped playgrounds, an outdoor lighted basketball, tennis courts, and a splash pad fountain. Indoors, the recreation center features a regulation basketball gymnasium, dance/workout studios, and fully equipped weight room.
The Edgewood Recreation Center’s visitor count routinely surpasses 300 daily guests, serving the District’s seniors, youth, and all those that fall in between. The recreation center is open 6:00am - 8:00pm Monday - Friday, and 9:00am - 1:00pm on Saturday.
